Medical Staff
Dennis Colby, DO
Family Practice/Occupational Medicine
Dr. Dennis Colby joined the Cresco Medical Clinic in November
of 2002.
Dr. Colby was born in Albert Lea, Minnesota, and grew up in Lake
Mills, Iowa. He was drawn to medicine as a result of his mother’s
death from leukemia when he was six years old. That created in
him the desire to heal others. He graduated from the University
of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, and the College of Osteopathic Medicine
and Surgery in Des Moines. He did his internship at Northwest General
Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is board certified in Family
Practice Medicine and Occupational Medicine.
Dr. Colby practiced for 22 years in Lake Mills prior to moving
to Cresco. He spent 22 years on the sideline and mats as team doctor
for high school football and wrestling. He was ambulance director
for 19 years. He states he has never moved around very much and
plans to stay in Cresco. If you have spent any time recently at
Cresco varsity football games or wrestling meets, you may have
noticed Dr. Colby on the sidelines, as he volunteers his time as
team doctor for these activities.
Dr. Colby and his wife Becky have four children and two grandchildren. Dr.
Colby’s hobbies include golf, fishing, classic cars,
spectator sports (football, wrestling, and stock car racing) and
collecting various artworks.
