Skilled Nursing

Skilled nurses work closely with physicians to provide evaluation of a client’s nursing needs on an individual basis. Skilled nursing services include, but are not limited to:

  • Blood draws
  • Diabetic cares
  • Disease teaching
  • Injections
  • IV therapy
  • Medication teaching, set-up, and monitoring
  • Newborn visits
  • Self Care Management (after newborn visits)
  • Wound care

 Registered nurse on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Public Health

Services offered include:

  • Bike helmets
  • Breastfeeding support and new mom/baby home visits
  • Communicable disease monitoring
  • Disease follow-up and prevention services
  • Elderly Waiver services
  • Emergency preparedness and disaster relief
  • Disaster Planning for You and Your Family - Brochure
  • Immunizations: infants through teens (see attached)
  • Lead testing and education
  • Radon awareness programs

Home Care Aides

Services include:

  • Assistance with rehabilitation and exercise therapy
  • Personal cares such as bathing, dressing, toileting, mouth, skin, nail, and hair care

Homemaker

Services include:

  • Emotional support/active listening
  • Errands, shopping, bill-paying
  • Housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Meal preparation/planning

Home Care visiting with patientRespite Care

Services include:

  • Daily living tasks during caregiver’s absence
  • Give primary caregiver a break to rejuvenate

Weekend Home Care Aide, Homemaker, and Respite Care available.

Physicians, social workers, family or friends may make referrals for these services.

Community-Based Services

Flu vaccine clinics

Certification: Community Health is a certified Medicare Home Health Provider.

Fees: Services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurances. Private pay and/or sliding fee schedule available for skilled nursing, home care aide, and homemaker visits.

sharps container drawingMedical Sharps Disposal in Howard County

Hawkeye Sanitation will take medical sharps if:

  • They are in a Bio-hazardous container, metal coffee can, or heavy plastic container;
  • The container must be sealed or taped shut;
  • The container is clearly marked as “Sharps”;
  • It is recommended to separate the sharps container from the rest of refuse.

 Jendro Sanitation will take medical sharps containers at their facility only, and they must be in a heavy plastic container or Bio-hazardous container. Bio-hazardous containers are available for purchase at their facility.
