Nursery Notes

Due to the generosity of a donor who wishes to remain anonymous, babies born at RHS Hospital will no longer need to experience heelsticks in order to determine accurate bilirubin levels.

Physicians monitor newborns carefully for signs of jaundice. Jaundice (yellowing of the skin) is the result of the inability of the immature liver of an infant to metabolize bilirubin. This new equipment, the TlcBilitest, utilizes new color science technology and provides pain free, non-invasive monitoring of bilirubin in newborns of all races, even those under phototherapy (bili-light).

"It is one of the most beautiful compensations of this life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself."

~Ralph Waldo Emerson
