Dr. Vreeke married Jamie Reinhart in August of 2003. She has two stepchildren, Brooke & Josh. The most recent additions to the family are daughters Abigail and Leah. The family enjoys outdoor activities, especially camping, backpacking, biking, cross-country skiing, and softball. Dr. Vreeke really enjoys playing on a softball team here in Cresco during the summer. Reading fiction and biographies is also something for which she tries to make time. Family practice has always been Dr. Vreeke’s passion. She also loves obstetrics and bringing new life into the world. She does colposcopies, which are procedures to evaluate abnormal pap smears. Dr. Vreeke puts a high priority on trying to fit her patients with acute symptoms into the schedule on the day they call. Dr. Tanya Vreeke (pronounced Vrake-a) was born in Nigeria, West Africa, of missionary parents. The family returned to the United States every two to three years for mandatory furloughs, but it wasn’t until she was 14 years old that she lived in the United States for an extended period of time. She graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and then attended medical school at the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa. Dr. Vreeke completed a three-year residency at the North Iowa Family Medicine Program in Mason City, Iowa. She is certified by the American Board of Family Practice.
